Situmurun Waterfall is also often referred to as Binangalom Waterfall because the water comes from Binangalom village, Lumban Julu District, Toba Samosir district, North Sumatra.

The word binangalom comes from the name of a river, namely Lum. Lum or Lom in the Toba Batak language can be interpreted as liver conditioning. Of the many waterfalls in Indonesia this waterfall is classified as unique because the water flows directly falling into Lake Toba. You can also enjoy the sensation of swimming against the current in this waterfall.

In North Sumatra precisely on Lake Toba there is one waterfall water whose water flowed directly into Lake Toba. Because of this uniqueness, the waterfall looks very exotic with its unusual charm.

To be able to arrive in Toba, you can choose various alternatives for both land and air transportation. If you board a plane, you can choose a flight to Silangit Airport. From the airport, the journey continues to Parapat to be able to cross by boat. This ship is specifically for rental boats because passenger ships cannot take you to enjoy the beauty of the Binangalom waterfall.

The engine boat, which has a capacity of up to 25 people, will then speed through the flow of Lake Toba to reach the point of the waterfall. It takes at least 1 to 1.5 hours of travel. During the journey, your eyes will be pampered with a magnificent view. Clusters of green cliffs are overgrown with green trees, the expanse of Lake Toba water until the blue sky is ready to throw all the fatigue in the head.

After taking a trip accompanied by this gust of wind, you will soon be presented with a view of the waterfall that can immediately be enjoyed. Not only can you see it, the closer you are to the waterfall, the more cool it feels because water particles scatter against your face and body. Fresh!

According to Nani, a tour guide who is also a native of Batak Blood, this Binangalom waterfall has the meaning of water flow or liver conditioning river. Derived from the Batak language namely binanga which means river or water flow and lom which means liver conditioning.

If the boat that you are riding has docked at the surrounding dock, don't forget to capture the picture of the waterfall and take a picture as a personal documentation that is worth displaying on social media. Eits ... If you take a photo, it seems less challenging, it's time for you to feel the fresh waterfall mixed with Lake Toba water. Byuuuuur!

By using a float, visitors can and are allowed to swim directly on Lake Toba under a spill from the Binangalom Waterfall. Not only fresh and exciting, it is said that bathing under the waterfall can make a mate and ageless

Adventure in the wild Bukit Lawang

Outdoor adventure at Bukit Lawang accompanied by various rare animals provides an exciting experience for the traveler. Where else can you explore the forest while seeing how orangutans and other rare animals live in the wild?

Maybe there are still many who are wondering about this Bukit Lawang. Although it has stunning natural scenery, Bukit Lawang is not as popular as other tourist attractions in Medan.

Literally, Bukit Lawang means the entrance. Indeed, Bukit Lawang is a small village located south of the Leuseur Mountain National Park. Its position is around 120 km from the city of Medan and can be reached for four to five hours from the city center.

Bukit Lawang is popular with challenging natural attractions and is at the foot of Mount Leuser. From here, a traveler can start exploring the Sumatran forest which is famous for having very difficult terrain so it offers an amazing experience.

Bukit Lawang is one of the places in the world with orangutans as its main attraction. Bukit Lawang is claimed to be one of the interesting locations to find primates whose numbers are decreasing from year to year due to poaching.

Bukit Lawang is also a rehabilitation center for orangutans who are trained to live in the wild and have been operating since 1973. This rehabilitation center accommodates many orphaned orangutans who are trained to be ready to live in the wild again.

Not only is it famous for orangutan rehabilitation centers, the forest in Bukit Lawang is a place where rare flora and fauna are preserved. One of the famous plants in Bukit Lawang is the Rafflesia Arnoldi flower, which can reach up to three meters in diameter.

With all the diversity of flora and fauna in it, Bukit Lawang jungle track at night becomes a favorite activity of visitors to see wildlife living in their habitat. However, every visitor must be accompanied by an experienced guide because doing adventure alone in the Bukit Lawang forest is very dangerous.

If you are too scared to adventure at night, visitors can ask the guide to do jungle trekking during the day. Choose the right time to surround Bukit Lawang, because at certain hours there are orangutan feeding activities by rehabilitation centers, 08:30 and 15:00.

Visitors to Bukit Lawang can even participate in feeding and drinking like bananas, milk and other foods. However, this activity must be authorized and guided by the staff of the Gunung Leuser National Park rehabilitation center.

Don't forget to also ask the guide to take you to the bat cave at Bukit Lawang. The condition of the bat cave is totally dark, with no natural lighting at all, so bringing lighting equipment is needed when entering the cave. In the bat cave you can feel the distinctive smell of this wonder as well as the sensation of the bat song and the dripping sound of the Bahorok River.

Once satisfied to explore the Bukit Lawang forest, a traveler can test adrenaline with other activities that are no less challenging. Because the location of Bukit Lawang is very close to the swift flow of the Bahorok river, visitors can enjoy tubing activities.

This activity is similar to white water rafting, the difference is that you will use an inner tube that can only be ridden by one person as a tool to navigate the swift flow of the river.

Feel the sensation of the flow of the Bahorok River with its lush views of the trees to the right and left of the river, as well as various sized rocks that can be your obstacle.

The word Ya'ahowu is a common greeting among Nias people. Wherever you travel on this island you will be greeted with the words: Ya'ahowu, a typical greeting given in the morning, afternoon or night, at any time. The person was greeted with the same words as "Ya'ahowu". This is said to be a coincidence meeting, or even at the opening or closing of a church service or mass, because most Nias people are now Christians. This statement was even officially approved to be a characteristic of Nias which was decided at a meeting of the tribal chiefs, leaders and youth of the Balugu, Tahenori, Si'ulu and Sala tribes in Nias, archived by the Dutch East Indies government in 1919.

In his explanation, it was stated that the word Ya'ahowu was a typical greeting from Nias ethnic groups. It consists of two words, namely howu-howu which means blessing, and if added with the word Yes, that means that God bless you. Therefore, said Ya'ahowu very concerned about the welfare and blessings of the Almighty over the person so that he was welcomed. Y a'ahowu, as a result shows one's respect and recognition for others as human beings. Some consider it similar to saying shalom aleichem (in Hebrew) which means "peace with you" and "God bless you".

Today Nias is very well known for its amazing tradition of rock jumping and sea waves. Rock jumping is a skill that boys need to be men, so now visitors can watch local youth easily jump on a two meter high stone wall.

While Nias waves are famous throughout the world because of the massive break. The perfect wave was first discovered in Nias by Australian surfers so that the island is now home to the Indonesian Open Surfing Championship on the Lagundri coast.
